Business
Imperial Metals Corporation engages in the acquisition, exploration, development, mining, and production of base and precious metals, primarily copper and gold, from operations in British Columbia, Canada. Founded in 1959 and headquartered in Vancouver, the company wholly owns and operates the Mount Polley open-pit copper/gold mine located 56 kilometers northeast of Williams Lake; wholly owns the Huckleberry open-pit copper mine, which is currently on care and maintenance 88 kilometers from Houston; and holds a 30% joint venture interest in the Red Chris copper/gold mine, 80 kilometers south of Dease Lake, with Newmont Corporation as operator. It also maintains a portfolio of 23 greenfield exploration properties across British Columbia, supported by substantial measured and indicated copper resources of approximately 5 billion pounds. In March 2019, Imperial Metals entered an agreement to sell a 70% interest in Red Chris to Newcrest Mining Limited, forming a joint venture in August 2019 with Newcrest as operator; Newmont Corporation acquired Newcrest in November 2023, becoming the current joint venture partner and operator. The company reported strong third quarter 2025 financial results on November 4, 2025, with consolidated copper production of 46.3 million pounds and gold production of 50,751 ounces through September 30, 2025, on track for the high end of 2025 guidance, record nine-month revenue of $521.1 million surpassing 2024's full-year record, adjusted EBITDA of $92.5 million, and net debt reduction of $129.5 million year-to-date. Work advances on the Red Chris block cave feasibility study, with potential investment decision in 2026 pending permits, following a July 2025 fall of ground incident; Mount Polley copper production guidance increased to 30 million pounds for 2025.
